APPROACHING FUNDERS

How to approach a funder

  1. STEP 01

    Shortlist funders that fit

Filter by your stage, sector and region. A fund that backs your stage and sector is worth ten that do not; generalist funds and UK-wide schemes are worth a look too.
  2. STEP 02

Use the way in each one asks for

Some funders have an application form, some an email address, and some only take introductions from people they know. Each funder's page says which.
  3. STEP 03

    Write a short, specific pitch

Who you are, the problem, what you do about it, the proof so far and what you are raising, in a few lines. Our pitch builder writes the first draft from your answers. Open the pitch builder.
  4. STEP 04

Keep a list, and follow up once

Note who you contacted and when. If you hear nothing in two weeks, one polite follow-up with something new, such as a customer or a milestone, is plenty.

FOR INVESTORS

Looking for companies to back?

Company Signal lists every newly registered UK company, by city and by industry, with its public record. Browse the new companies directory, and leave a message for a founder on any company's page: it reaches the company's verified owner, with your name and email address.

QUESTIONS

Common questions

Does Company Signal pass my pitch on to investors?
No. Every funder page links to the funder's own form, email address or website, and you contact them yourself. We never see your pitch, take a fee or arrange anything between you and a funder.
Which funders are listed?
Funders that back UK companies and give founders a public way to reach them: venture capital funds, angel networks, accelerators, public funds, grants, community lenders, crowdfunding and revenue-based finance. Each entry was read from the funder's own pages, with its sources listed.
Do I need a limited company to raise money?
Investors who buy shares need a company to buy them in, usually a private limited company. Some lenders and schemes, such as Start Up Loans, lend to individuals starting a business. Grants usually need a registered business in the UK.
A funder is missing, or its details are out of date
Tell us through the contact page with a link to the funder's own page, and we will check it and update the list.

Company Signal lists funders so founders can find them. We are not a broker or a financial adviser: we do not recommend funders, pass pitches on or take any fee from them, and nothing here is an offer of finance. Each entry comes from the funder's own public pages, last checked 1 Oct 2026; amounts, terms and rates change, so check them with the funder before you apply. Tell us about a missing funder or a change.
